Kay began her music career back in the 80s with the rock band 'Dark They Were and Golden Eyed', with fellow bandsman Bryan Poulson, Tim Parker, Andy Blackstock, Pete and Graham (whose surnames have since escaped). The band performed predominantly their own materiel, although the odd cover was known to gate crash the odd gig, which led to them recording at the Bloomberg Studios with Tony Leonard from 'The Glitter Band'.
In the mid 80s Kay changed music scenes completely and joined 'Country Sound', covering songs from artists such as Billy Jo Spears, Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris, Lynne Anderson and more. Through her work with 'Country Sound, Kay was asked to join the session band 'Local Brew', a mix of musicians from many of the local country bands coming together to record newly written material. This is where Kay was first able to work with her dad 'Mick Hearn', who was playing Lead/Steel Guitar with another local country band. Kay had songs on two albums and an EP recorded by Local Brew, which gained much radio exposure. Local brew performed many shows that coincided with album releases.
Kay continues to write her own material and records at 'The Shed' studios. Having had the performing bug get a hold again after so many years, she is also performing as part of the music duo 'Fates Right Hand' with her idol and greatest fan 'Mick Hearn'. "Writing my own material is fun, but nothing compares to performing for real people."
'Fates Right Hand' performs well known covers of songs ranging from the 60s through to present day from artists such as Peter Frampton, Chris Rea, The Kinks, Adele, Stevie Wonder, The Shadows and much, much more.
"Our music covers a variety of genre from Country, to Rock N Roll, Boogie to Blues, in fact anything we like really, but more importantly, we play what our audience asks for."
